1,000 paper cranes
I love life. It’s always entertaining and amazing to look back on how things happen and what lead to inspiration of a creative project. In the interest of saving money, I decided to make Beth (my wife) a boquet of origami flowers. It was a great project because my two small daughters could help and she was blown away because she had no idea it was coming! I had so much fun doing it, and was able to push through some initial struggles that I thought I would try some other origami - panda, dolls, frogs, cranes, etc. I found this small creative break from my day to be very theraputic.
Being one to admire and appreciate traditions, I decided to make 1,000 paper cranes. The Japanese legend says that anyone who presents homage to this Holy beast will be granted a wish, such as long life or recover from an illness.
Starting now, this tumblr feed will be devoted to my 1,000 paper cranes, starting with #4 which is the most recent. The first few were as follows…
1. Standard computer paper, a bit rough on the folding
2. Re-used 2007 Christmas letter from my parents
3. Blank computer paper, much improved
